One of the best resources at your disposal is the Life Saving Society. They are a wonderful Canadian charitable organization, dedicated to your safety and education on all things swimming. They’re always working to prevent drowning and water-related injury through their training programs.

On their website you can find Water Smart® tips for parents, up to date information on CPR techniques, tips on pool maintenance and even advice for safe boating practices. They also offer instructional swimming courses, all the way from learn-to-swim to advanced lifesaving and lifeguarding classes. If you haven’t already, you should definitely check them out!

Don’t forget drinking water and sunscreen. It’s important to stay hydrated, especially in the summer heat.  Always use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and re-apply after swimming, even if you have a “waterproof” type of sunscreen.
